About the Role
Neuberger Berman is seeking a junior qualified lawyer to join the EMEA legal team, providing general corporate and investment management legal support with a particular focus on ESG rules and regulations. This role involves collaboration with Legal and Compliance colleagues across the United States, Hong Kong, Singapore and Japan. The legal function supports the business and other support and control units on all legal and compliance matters. Key responsibilities include advising on the impact and implementation of new laws and regulations, particularly ESG-related; working with the ESG team to update internal compliance; ensuring ESG disclosures and disclaimers are properly incorporated into legal documentation; drafting, negotiating and reviewing a wide range of legal agreements including distribution agreements, investment management agreements, rebate agreements, confidentiality agreements and side-letters; reviewing bespoke legal RFP or marketing questions; and liaising with outside counsel as necessary. The role also involves interaction with Client Coverage teams, sales staff, portfolio managers, client service teams, compliance, risk, internal audit and finance teams to support distribution strategies, commercial relationships and day-to-day asset management issues.
Experience
Up to 2 years PQE with demonstrable legal experience gained from in-house and/or private practice. Familiarity with ESG-related legislation such as SFDR, TCFD and ancillary ESG laws. Knowledge of fund structures (e.g. UCITS, SICAV, Master-Feeder, US Mutual funds), fund domiciles (Ireland, Luxembourg, Cayman, US) and segregated accounts. Awareness of upcoming legislative changes.
