About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated Associate Analyst to join the Customer and Loyalty Analytics team at Sainsbury's. In this role, you will drive impact through analytics by deriving insightful findings and contributing to actionable recommendations. You will work with coding languages, data visualisation tools, and analytical methodologies to support business decisions. This role involves end-to-end project ownership, from scoping and forecasting to delivering insights and recommendations that influence customer experience, commercial performance, and operational efficiency.

The Nectar Customer Analytics team is a central hub for data-driven decision making, supporting the Nectar programme and wider business initiatives. Key focus areas include leading Nectar campaigns such as Collect for Christmas and Healthy Choices Challenge, championing data playback initiatives like the Year in Review campaign, improving Nectar App engagement through user behaviour analysis, building scalable dashboards and automated workflows, and collaborating cross-functionally to solve complex problems.

Joining us means working on real business challenges using modern tools like Tableau, SQL, and Python, and helping shape the future of one of the UK’s most recognised loyalty programmes.

Requirements

Experience
- Strong analytical thinking with the ability to identify relevant metrics, analyse trends, and deliver contextual insights to support business decisions.
- Experienced user of SQL and ideally Python.
- Previous experience with BI tools such as Tableau or Microstrategy and/or AWS / Snowflake is advantageous.
- Proven ability to manage analytical projects independently, balancing ad-hoc demands with existing commitments.

About you
- Proactive and motivated to deliver additional analytical value, including improving process efficiencies and experimenting with innovative methods.
- Strong communication skills with a confident curiosity to explore and understand analytical problems.
- Ability to build strong stakeholder relationships, set clear expectations, and present insights clearly.
- Awareness of operational governance, data limitations, and adherence to data protection and security policies.

Qualifications
- Demonstrable technical proficiency in SQL and understanding of relational databases.
- Ability to perform quality checks on standardised code.
- Commitment to continuous learning and development within a collaborative and impact-driven team environment.
