About the Role
The Dermatology Associate Specialty Doctor will provide dermatology consultations for patients referred into community dermatology services clinics. Responsibilities include offering procedures such as dermoscopy, cryotherapy, injections, and surgical interventions as appropriate. The role involves arranging investigations, offering management plans for GP implementation, returning patients to GP care, or providing follow-up consultations either face to face or via telephone. You will also coordinate onward referrals to secondary care when necessary.

Maintaining accurate and timely records of consultations, investigations, prescribing, and procedures using clinical systems and templates is essential. You will ensure timely review of results and communicate outcomes to patients, carers, or referring clinicians. Completing computerized outcome letters and liaising with administration teams to ensure delivery is required.

Prescribing must align with local dermatology formularies (South East London APC/JMF). Practice should comply with SE London Treatment Access Policy and national guidelines including 2WW, NICE, IOG, BAD, PCDS, and local dermatology protocols. You will work within your competence, acknowledge limitations, and decline duties outside your qualifications.

Collaboration with community dermatology consultant colleagues is expected to optimize patient care and address training needs. You will complete relevant activity documentation to track key performance indicators and fulfill mandatory training and regulatory compliance.

Handling of data, images, and patient information must be GDPR compliant, including the use of nhs.net email addresses for patient-specific information transfer. You are expected to take reasonable care for your safety and that of others, reporting any injuries or significant/near miss events promptly.

Requirements

Experience
Experience in dermatology or related clinical practice is expected, particularly in community and paediatric dermatology settings. Ability to perform dermatological procedures such as dermoscopy, cryotherapy, injections, and minor surgical interventions is required.
