The position includes participation in a rotational scheme covering Elderly Care, General Medicine, Stroke Unit, Surgery, Orthopaedics, Complex Neurological conditions (including major trauma), and Community Rehabilitation.

Key responsibilities include maintaining accurate records, supervising Occupational Therapy (O.T.) students on practice placements, providing leadership and supervision to junior/support staff, and deputising for senior staff when required. You will work both within hospital and community settings, sometimes as a lone practitioner with telephone support.

Clinical duties involve assessing and treating patients, conducting cognitive and perceptual testing, risk assessments, and advising on aids and adaptations. You will also participate in discharge planning, multidisciplinary team meetings, and contribute to service development and delivery.

Additional responsibilities include training and educating staff and students, managing equipment and stock, and supporting the implementation of new departmental policies. Professional development is encouraged through participation in mandatory and statutory training, maintaining a professional portfolio, and demonstrating increasing competence as a senior Occupational Therapist.
