About the Role
As an Occupational Therapist within the Acute and Community Rotation at Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust, you will manage a designated caseload of patients with complex needs using evidence-based, client-centred principles. You will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate treatment programmes across a range of clinical areas including Elderly Care, General Medicine, Stroke Unit, Surgery, Orthopaedics, Complex Neurological conditions (including major trauma), and Community Rehabilitation.

Your role includes maintaining accurate records that meet legal requirements, providing leadership and supervision to junior and support staff, and regularly supervising Occupational Therapy students on practice placements. You will participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, contribute to discharge planning and coordination of complex patients, and work both in hospital and community settings, including lone practitioner duties with appropriate support.

Key responsibilities include conducting patient assessments, designing and implementing treatment plans to maximise independence in personal and domestic activities, carrying out risk assessments, advising on aids and adaptations, and undertaking home and community visits. You will also contribute to service development, ensure timely and safe patient discharges, and support training and education within the department.

This role requires adherence to professional ethics, participation in performance reviews, and ongoing professional development to maintain competence and fitness to practise as a senior Occupational Therapist.

Experience
Experience in managing complex caseloads across acute and community settings is essential. Proven ability to assess, plan, and implement client-centred treatment programmes. Experience supervising junior staff and students is required. Ability to work independently in community and domiciliary settings is desirable.
