About the Role
This role involves managing a designated caseload using evidence-based, client-centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate occupational therapy interventions. You will maintain accurate records fulfilling legal requirements and participate in a rotational scheme across multiple specialties including Elderly Rehabilitation, General Medicine (including Oncology), Stroke Unit, and Orthopaedics/Surgery.

Key responsibilities include assessing and treating patients, designing individual treatment programmes, conducting cognitive and perceptual testing, performing risk assessments, advising on aids and adaptations, manufacturing and monitoring splint regimes, and carrying out home and community visits to assess functional ability and environmental risks. You will also be involved in discharge planning, coordinating complex cases, and referring patients to appropriate agencies for ongoing care.

Effective communication with patients, carers, multidisciplinary teams, and other agencies is essential. You will participate in multidisciplinary meetings, case conferences, and staff meetings as directed. Documentation duties include maintaining up-to-date activity records and providing reports as required.

Professional development is supported through adherence to the COT Code of Ethics, weekly supervision, performance reviews, delegation of tasks, and attendance at mandatory and developmental training. You will be expected to maintain a professional portfolio for continuing professional development (CPD).

Requirements

Experience
Experience in occupational therapy practice is required, ideally with exposure to a range of clinical settings such as elderly rehabilitation, general medicine, stroke, and orthopaedics. Ability to manage a caseload and deliver client-centred care is essential.

You must demonstrate a commitment to professional development, reflective practice, and adherence to ethical standards. Flexibility to participate in weekend and bank holiday rotas is required.

Qualifications
Qualified Occupational Therapist registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). Commitment to ongoing professional development and adherence to the College of Occupational Therapists (COT) Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct is essential.
