About the Role
The Greater London Authority (GLA) is seeking an exceptional candidate to provide secretariat support to Mayoral decision-making processes. You will join the Committee Services team, which delivers a high-quality shared secretariat function to the Mayor of London’s boards and other key bodies including the London Assembly, Transport for London, Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime, London Legacy Development Corporation, and Old Oak and Park Royal Development Corporation. You will be part of a high-performing team at City Hall with a strong reputation. Your key responsibility will be to coordinate the GLA’s decision-making process efficiently and effectively, supporting the Mayoral Delivery Board and other governance groups. You will liaise with senior officers with tact and diplomacy in a fast-paced environment and contribute to work that is often covered in the media.
The role requires maintaining focus on detail while understanding the broader context, upholding high standards, proactively solving problems, and ensuring smooth processes. You will be self-motivated, conscientious, and possess excellent written communication skills. Confident and diplomatic liaison with senior staff is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate the administration of the GLA’s decision-making process, providing timely support and advice to officers.
- Secure required financial and legal clearances and ensure timely publication of decision forms.
- Ensure decisions comply with GLA governance frameworks.
- Liaise with senior officers, politicians, and colleagues across the GLA and wider GLA Group to provide business management, governance, and procedural advice.
- Prepare reports and agendas, attend formal high-level meetings, and produce minutes.
Experience
- Proven track record of managing formal meetings involving decision-making processes, ideally within a high-profile or complex organisation.
- Experience interpreting and applying governance frameworks, processes, and best practices.
- Demonstrated ability to quickly build and manage professional relationships at all levels.
- Exceptional planning and organising skills, delivering work that is well-prioritised and efficiently structured.
- Independent problem solver with the ability to analyse situations from multiple perspectives and find timely, appropriate solutions.

Qualifications

- This is a politically restricted role under the Local Government and Housing Act 1989.
