About the Role
This role is responsible for the day-to-day operations and delivery of a high-quality archive and local history service for Lambeth Council. You will lead major archives projects and act as the main local contact for the community. The post-holder will create and develop partnership opportunities to extend the service’s reach and responsiveness to changing customer needs and demand. The role is based within Lambeth Archives, a specialist team managing historic council records, local studies collections, and a small museum collection. The service operates from a new purpose-built archive facility on Brixton Hill, featuring a welcoming public search room and extensive strong room with space for new collections for the next 25 years.

Experience
- At least 3 years’ experience in a similar role or environment
- Advanced computer skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and statistical analysis/performance management software
- Good knowledge of archives, local studies, and management
- Experience in project management and delivering transformational change
- Experience of financial and budgetary management
- Experience working in a customer service environment and implementing quality standards
- Experience working with partners and community organisations
- Significant experience in the archives or local history sector

You should be responsive to community needs and committed to delivering excellent public services. A collaborative approach and ability to work within a small specialist team are essential.
