Building Control Senior Surveyor

Salary
£50,085 per annum plus an additional yearly Market Supplement of £5,000 paid over 12 months, subject to review
About the Role
You will manage a range of domestic and commercial applications under the Building Regulations as a Class 2 (Registered Building Inspector). Your responsibilities will include handling dangerous structures, enforcement and demolition notices, and contributing to the wider team activities. You will assist in the learning and development of less experienced staff and benefit from the Council’s commitment to flexible working and staff training. The Council will cover your costs for achieving and renewing your accreditation with the Building Safety Regulator. This role offers hybrid working; however, daily site visits to Sutton are essential.

About the Service and Team
The Building Control Service has recently restructured to meet the challenges of the Building Safety Act, including the need for Registered Building Inspectors. The service is UKAS Accredited ISO 9001 certified on the LABC scheme, demonstrating a commitment to efficiency, development opportunities, and competency.

Experience
Proven experience working in Building Control, ideally within Local Government. Experience managing domestic and commercial projects under Building Regulations and related legislation is essential.

You will support and mentor less experienced staff and demonstrate a commitment to continuous professional development. Flexibility and adaptability to change are important, as is a customer-focused approach.
Qualifications
Professional qualification granting membership to a recognised Building Control body such as RICS or CABE. Registration under the Building Safety Regulator at a level enabling you to manage relevant domestic and commercial projects is required.
