About the Role
HES Catering Services is the Local Authority provider of school meals for the London Borough of Havering, working in partnership with local schools and academies to deliver award-winning meals and services. We take pride in supplying a wide range of high-quality catering services to the majority of schools within the borough, as well as offering bespoke solutions to schools and businesses with their own in-house catering teams.

As a Casual Kitchen Assistant, you will undertake the preparation, simple cooking, and serving of food and beverages in accordance with the Council’s contractual arrangements. You will support the kitchen supervisor in all aspects of the food service and assume responsibility for the food service in the supervisor’s absence. This role is graded at entry step Grade 1/2 with a salary of £6,707.87 pro rata.

HES Catering serves over 15,000 meals per day across its sites, with colleagues who are experienced and dedicated to preparing healthy, fresh, vibrant, and tasty meals using the highest quality produce.

Experience
No specific experience is required for this role. Enthusiasm and a willingness to contribute to a busy kitchen environment are essential.

About you
You will report to the Cook Supervisor or a higher graded operative and have no direct staffing responsibilities. You should be reliable, able to work as part of a team, and committed to maintaining high standards of food preparation and service. The role requires working as defined on the staffing profile with flexibility during term time and school holidays.

Qualifications
No formal qualifications are required for this position, but a positive attitude and commitment to learning and supporting the catering team are important.
