About the Role
As a Catering Stores Manager, you will be responsible for the effective management of catering stores within the hospital environment. Your duties will include ordering and requisitioning stock, receipting deliveries both physically and online, and ensuring all items are checked against delivery notes in compliance with departmental procedures. You will initiate procurement requests using the Trust Electronic Requisitioning Ordering System, PECOS, and PIM. Managing available storage space in line with operational policies and issuing food items, dry goods, and cleaning materials will be key responsibilities.

You will complete food safety checks related to temperature-sensitive items, monitor fridge and freezer temperatures, and maintain stock levels by completing manual and electronic requisitions. Ensuring audit frameworks are maintained for receipt and issuing of catering commodities and managing stock rotation according to departmental policies are essential parts of the role.

Compliance with Food Safety Regulations, HACCP procedures, and quality, quantity, and food waste control measures is critical. You will undertake stocktaking, provision requisitioning, and ensure all service users receive the highest standard of customer care. Working safely and hygienically while maintaining professional presentation is expected. You will also participate in on and off the job training and comply with Trust policies and appraisal processes.

Main duties include receiving and checking deliveries, applying stock rotation principles, issuing items to authorised users, maintaining records for goods management, liaising with suppliers, assisting with ward deliveries, verifying prices and invoices, assisting in menu pricing, monitoring ward requisitions, and attending training courses. You will work safely, following Health & Safety, Security, and Fire procedures, and perform any other duties commensurate with the post.

Experience
Experience in stock management, procurement, and catering stores operations is desirable. Familiarity with electronic requisitioning systems such as PECOS and PIM is advantageous.

You should be organised, detail-oriented, and able to work independently while maintaining excellent communication with suppliers and internal teams. A strong commitment to food safety, hygiene, and customer care is essential. You must be able to work safely and comply with Health & Safety and departmental policies.

Qualifications
Relevant qualifications in catering, food safety, or stock management are beneficial but not explicitly required. Willingness to undertake on and off the job training as required is essential.
