About the Role
The Office for National Statistics (ONS) is the UK’s largest producer of official statistics, covering key economic, social and demographic topics. We are transforming how we use data to better understand and measure the UK’s economy and society, driving better decision making and improving citizens’ lives. A core part of this transformation is the development of our Geospatial Strategy and capability, enhancing the use of geospatial methods across the organisation to add maximum value to ONS statistics.

In preparation for the mandatory Census 2031 of England and Wales, ONS is building on the experience of Census 2021 to deliver an inclusive, digital-first census. The Data Products, Services and Governance (DPSG) Directorate provides vital data products and services for Census and wider ONS work, including a dynamic team of geospatial specialists.

As a Census Senior Geospatial Analyst, you will lead a team of geospatial analysts within Census Location Services, managing day-to-day activities, reporting progress, and supporting team development. You will drive geospatial research and analysis projects, innovate methods and analytic pipelines, and collaborate with stakeholders across ONS and government.

Continuous professional development is encouraged, with opportunities to keep abreast of new geospatial technologies, datasets, and analytical methodologies.
