About the Role
As a Children’s Speech and Language Therapist, you will carry a personal clinical caseload, maintaining a high level of professional competence and demonstrating developing clinical expertise with supervision. You will assess, differentially diagnose, plan, and implement therapy for children with speech, language, and/or communication difficulties on your own caseload. You will work effectively with clients, carers, education staff, and colleagues around individual case management, providing advice, guidance, and support as necessary, involving them in the planning and prioritisation of care wherever possible. Reflecting on clinical practice, you will identify strengths and needs of clients, review their response to therapy, and provide evidence of sound clinical judgement. You will monitor and review the progress of children using evaluation and outcome measurement tools, adapting practice to meet individual client and carer circumstances, taking into account cultural and linguistic backgrounds. You will produce accurate and detailed reports, therapy programmes, advice, and information in a timely manner. You will respond to the requirements of the Children and Families Act 2014 by completing written advice contributing to Education, Health and Care assessments for children and young people who may have Special Educational Needs. Supporting effective transition of children between schools and other services will be part of your role. You will refer children to other Health, Education, or Social Services professionals as necessary and undertake home visits in compliance with the Home Visiting Safety Policy.
