About the Role
Do you enjoy leading projects with a difference where you can have a real impact working alongside technical experts to deliver for government departments and the wider public sector? If yes, then this role at the Government Actuary's Department (GAD) could be for you.
At GAD, our mission is to support effective decision-making and robust reporting within the public sector as the first-choice provider of actuarial and specialist analysis, advice and assurance. The department’s work covers valuation work and policy support in relation to pension schemes, insurance type indemnities and contingent liabilities, financial risk, and social security. We also provide financial modelling and quality assurance.
We offer great working benefits including a world-class pension, flexible working options and a career where your learning and development is taken seriously.
You will be a key member of the Insurance Provisioning team, working with indemnity/insurance related clients. The main client will be NHS Resolution, which provides indemnity to the NHS for risks involved in delivering healthcare services in England. You will work alongside actuaries to deliver estimates of NHS Resolution’s provision, support cashflow estimates, and assess the impact on pricing for NHS Trusts and other healthcare providers. This is alongside ongoing support for their wider business needs and policy support as required.
This is a high-profile, technically complex programme of work with real consequences for public finances and patient outcomes, so the work you manage will matter.
As Project Manager, you will lead the day-to-day running of GAD's programme of work with NHS Resolution. This client-facing role requires you to operate confidently across organisational boundaries, building trusted relationships with NHS Resolution colleagues while working closely with GAD's analytical and client lead teams internally.
You will be responsible for end-to-end delivery of projects within the programme: defining objectives, maintaining governance, managing risk, tracking spend, and ensuring work is delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality. You will be the key link between client expectations and internal delivery.
This role offers genuine scope to shape how a significant public sector programme is run and you will be provided with learning and development opportunities to reach your potential.
