The AI Centre for Value-Based Healthcare, where this role is based, is a consortium of NHS, academic, and industry partners delivering expert technical solutions across data engineering, data science, AI development, and software engineering.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Guy’s Cancer Real-World Evidence (RWE) team as a Clinical Informatician (Senior Cancer RWD Analyst), focusing on thoracic cancers. The role involves curating and developing regulatory-grade, deep cancer data assets to ensure outputs are clinically meaningful and aligned with research and commercial needs. The post-holder will act as a bridge between clinical, scientific, and engineering teams, leading analytical efforts on complex cancer data and contributing to research outputs and strategic partnerships.
The role includes overseeing clinical validation of features extracted from unstructured medical records, managing analytical projects, and supporting international academic collaborations. The successful candidate will work within a matrixed team environment, mentoring colleagues and supporting capability-building.
Experience
- Clinical background with understanding of oncology domain
- Expertise in clinical data and informatics, including source systems and oncology-specific vocabularies
- Proficiency in SQL and Python (+/- R) for dataset engineering, cohort validation, and data analysis
- Understanding of cancer clinical research, pharma studies/clinical trials, and regulatory requirements for RWD/RWE in oncology
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to translate between engineering, clinical, and scientific audiences
- Excellent project management skills

Qualifications
- Experience overseeing clinical validation of NLP-derived features from unstructured medical records is desirable
- Track record of high-impact research output and/or commercial partnership delivery in RWE is desirable
- Experience with cloud data platforms (e.g. Snowflake) is desirable
