About the Role
Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust is one of the UK’s busiest and most successful NHS trusts, providing a wide range of hospital and community services across south London and specialist care nationally. The Trust is renowned for clinical excellence, teaching, and research, and is part of King’s Health Partners, an academic health sciences centre. With over 23,500 staff, the Trust is committed to delivering high quality, safe, and efficient care with a strong focus on patient experience.

This role offers an exciting and challenging opportunity to provide a professional and effective credit control and cash collection service on assigned accounts and customers. You will ensure all monies due are promptly and efficiently collected in line with targets, and that all customer complaints and queries are logged and resolved. You will also produce appropriate reports and reconcile accounts according to departmental procedures.

You will provide advice, information, and guidance to debtors and their representatives regarding debt issues, overcoming barriers to repayment. You will contribute to maximising income by monitoring and ensuring the correct application of complex and varied price tariffs for a range of debtors, identifying any incorrect applications and aiding consistent interpretation across all sites.

The role involves managing a portfolio of debt issues each month to meet DSO targets, liaising with NHS, private, international patients, research partners, and domestic non-NHS customers. You will use your credit control and negotiation skills to maintain a high collection record, manage your workload independently, and meet monthly debtor reporting deadlines. Strong communication, Excel skills, and problem-solving abilities are essential.

The Income Treasury and Cashiers department handles external customer billing, debt collection, and receipt processing for all Trust goods and services. The department also manages patient monies and travel refunds across hospital sites.

Key responsibilities include performing credit control and query management for assigned accounts, meeting targets, logging queries within 24 hours, producing status reports on credit balances, liaising with budget holders to resolve disputes, following up on accounts passed to external debt collectors, attending internal meetings, handling litigation and court attendance as required, and producing monthly reports on outstanding balances and actions taken. You will also take and process card payments, draft responses to complaints, work collaboratively with other departments, and provide cover for other Credit Controllers as needed.
