About the Role
We are seeking a part qualified or fully qualified Commercial Finance Analyst to join the Commercial Finance team at the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). This small but impactful team provides financial guidance and support across the entire lifecycle of commercial contracts, including major procurements, projects, and post-contract award activities such as Open Book analysis, supplier viability analysis, payment modelling, and financial strategy development.
As a Commercial Finance Analyst, you will focus on financial modelling and analysis, supporting workstreams within Health, Employment, and Estates. You will contribute to the design of payment methodologies for new procurements, support financial evaluation strategies, assist in contract negotiations, and provide ongoing financial support during mobilisation and live delivery.
This role offers exposure to senior stakeholders across Commercial, Operations, and Policy, requiring you to build effective working relationships and provide evidence-based analysis to support decision-making. You will work on high-profile, business-critical activities while developing your professional expertise within a supportive and collaborative team environment.

Experience
- Demonstrable capability in Excel-based financial modelling, including scoping, designing, and developing new models.
- Experience producing bespoke data analysis, turning complex data into clear, actionable insights, and delivering compelling narratives in project or programme environments.
- Experience identifying, developing, and embedding continuous improvements to enhance stakeholder service.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively across diverse stakeholder groups, using strong communication and influencing skills to manage and challenge expectations constructively.
- Experience presenting financial and commercial analysis clearly and engagingly to support stakeholder understanding and informed decision-making.

Qualifications
This role is open to CCAB/CIMA qualified accountants or part-qualified accountants currently studying towards a qualification with a UK-recognised accountancy body (CIMA, ICAEW, ACCA, CIPFA, ICAS, or Chartered Accountants Ireland).
- Qualified applicants must hold a full chartered level professional qualification with up-to-date membership.
- Part-qualified applicants must have passed or been awarded exemptions from at least 8 exams, with the last exam taken within 12 months of application, and hold active student membership.
- Membership of technician level qualifications such as AAT does not meet the criteria.
- Successful part-qualified applicants are expected to complete their studies and become fully qualified within a reasonable timeframe.
Additional requirements include the ability to work in the UK and willingness to travel as required.
