About the Role
Join the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) as a Finance Business Partner supporting a portfolio valued at over £3bn across diverse commercial contracts including contact centres, banking, travel, resourcing, logistics, and document management. This fast-paced role places you at the heart of decision-making for some of DWP’s most critical contracts.

As a Finance Business Partner, you will provide professional financial advice and strategic insight on commercial contracts and strategy, acting as a trusted partner to senior stakeholders. Your responsibilities will cover the full commercial lifecycle including delivery model assessment, pricing mechanism design, procurement support, tender evaluation, supplier viability assessment, and in-life contract management.

You will work collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams across the department, contributing to robust financial governance, value for money, and compliance with Managing Public Money and the Cabinet Office Sourcing Playbook. This leadership role offers opportunities for personal growth, team development, and fostering a culture of partnership and continuous improvement.

The role supports hybrid working arrangements, with the contractual office as your base and flexibility to work from home part of the week. Travel may be required occasionally.

Experience
- Critical review, challenge and evaluation of commercial proposals to deliver value for money
- Financial modelling including risk allocation, should-cost modelling, and pricing model design aligned with Cabinet Office Sourcing Playbook guidance
- Analysing complex data and communicating financial concepts to non-financial audiences
- Leading teams of subject matter experts and integrating multi-disciplinary expertise to achieve organisational goals
- Ensuring adherence to financial policies such as Managing Public Money and influencing stakeholders at all levels with integrity and credibility

About you
We seek a qualified or part-qualified finance professional with strong commercial experience, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to work collaboratively across diverse teams. You should be proactive, credible, and motivated to deliver high standards and support continuous improvement in a dynamic public sector environment.

Qualifications
- Qualified candidates must hold a full chartered professional qualification from a UK-recognised accountancy body (CIMA, ICAEW, ACCA, CIPFA, ICAS, or Chartered Accountants Ireland) with active membership
- Part-qualified candidates must be studying towards one of these qualifications, have passed or been exempted from at least 8 exams, and have taken an exam within 12 months prior to application, with active student membership
- Membership of AAT or technician level qualifications does not meet the criteria for this role
