We have an opportunity for a Communications Data Investigator to join the Digital Intelligence Unit. In this specialist accredited role, you will be responsible for the lawful acquisition and analysis of communications data in accordance with the Investigatory Powers Act 2016.

You will provide specialist advice and use communications data, digital intelligence, and analytical techniques to identify investigative opportunities, support safeguarding activity, locate vulnerable persons, and assist serious crime investigations and intelligence operations. Successful applicants will receive training to become an accredited Communications Data Investigator within a nationally recognised investigative capability.

The role includes participation in the Communications Data on-call rota, attracting a 10% on-call allowance, requiring out-of-hours support for urgent operational and Life at Risk enquiries.

A blended approach to home and office working is available, with a higher level of office attendance expected during initial training and accreditation due to the specialist nature of the role.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide specialist advice relating to communications data to support investigations, intelligence operations, and crimes in action.
- Review, quality assure, and support communications data applications to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and codes of practice.
- Identify, acquire, interpret, and evaluate communications data from communication service providers to support investigations and crime prevention.
- Collaborate with investigators, analysts, and communication service providers to develop effective investigative strategies and facilitate efficient data transfer.

Experience
- Experience utilising a variety of computer software packages to collect, review, and interpret diverse datasets.
- Ability to analyse complex problems, provide clear advice, and adapt communication styles to different audiences.
- Effective time management skills to prioritise workloads while interpreting and applying relevant guidance.
- Proven ability to proactively develop effective working relationships with colleagues, partners, and stakeholders.

Qualifications
- Degree level education or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline, or relevant work experience.
