About the Role
Start your journey with the British Transport Police (BTP) and join a team where your voice and values matter. We are recruiting PIP 2 qualified Detectives at Constable rank to join our Crime Investigation Department in London. BTP police and protect 10,000 miles of track and 3,000 railway stations every day – a network at the heart of Britain’s community, commerce and industry. As a CID Officer, you will conduct proactive and reactive investigations into all crimes occurring on the rail network, ensuring the best possible evidence is secured and cases are fully and efficiently investigated to enable considered prosecution decisions. You will act as a liaison officer for victims and witnesses, providing support and reassurance throughout the investigation.

This is a talent pool vacancy with successful candidates expected to start within 12 months.

At BTP, we champion modern, people-first policing. From safeguarding passengers to supporting vulnerable individuals and preventing crime, no two days are the same. Our officers are more than law enforcers; they are listeners, problem-solvers, and protectors of community trust. This role values your empathy, communication skills, and emotional intelligence as much as your operational experience.

Why join BTP? We offer flexible working arrangements wherever possible, a strong focus on wellbeing, mental health support, inclusive leadership, real opportunities for career progression, and family-friendly policies that respect life beyond work. Join a force where your ideas are welcomed, your development is prioritised, and your unique strengths are valued.
