About the Role
Make a real difference every day. Jewish Care’s Community Centres are warm, welcoming spaces where older people come to connect, stay active and feel part of a vibrant community. We are looking for a Community Centre Programme Assistant to help deliver meaningful, enjoyable experiences that truly enrich people’s lives. As part of our frontline team, you will support the delivery of daily activities such as chair-based exercise, discussion groups, card games, creative sessions, and social events. You will also help develop and deliver a programme of wider community activities. You will work closely with Centre Managers, Community Hub Managers and volunteers to ensure our centres are safe, engaging, and inclusive environments. The role includes some evening and Sunday work, with time off in lieu.

Key Responsibilities
Deliver a wide range of activities and events for older people
Help plan and develop an engaging events programme
Support volunteers and contribute to their wellbeing
Ensure centres run safely by working with Health & Safety and catering teams
Facilitate activities across our Community Hubs
Prepare and deliver day-centre sessions
Assist with daily setup and close-down of the Centre
Support welfare-related administration and data entry on our membership system
Help the team meet KPIs and deadlines
Use member feedback to improve service quality
Follow safeguarding guidance and raise any concerns appropriately

Experience
Experience engaging with older or disabled people, including those living with dementia (Essential)
Experience working in a team (Essential)
Strong communication and customer service skills (Essential)

You will genuinely enjoy connecting with people and supporting older members of the community. You will bring warmth, patience, energy and confidence to every interaction. You must be able to remain calm, positive and respectful in all situations, work independently using your initiative, and demonstrate problem-solving skills with the confidence to think clearly under pressure.
