About the Role
This Consultant Clinical Oncology position offers the opportunity to provide specialist oncology services within the Guys & St Thomas NHS Foundation Trust Cancer Centre and the South East London Cancer Network. The post holder will work alongside consultant colleagues to deliver high-quality clinical oncology care, with a specialist interest in lung cancer. Responsibilities include diagnosis and treatment of patients across various hospital sites and clinics, continuing clinical responsibility for patients under your care, and domiciliary consultations as required. The role involves working in joint-clinic settings supported by a multidisciplinary team (MDT) and participating in an inpatient ward attending rota system, averaging approximately 2 weeks of ward cover per year during which routine work is suspended.
Teaching and training form an integral part of the role, with expectations to contribute to undergraduate teaching during clinical duties and to support postgraduate medical training, including acting as an Educational Supervisor. Research and clinical trial involvement are key elements, with consultants expected to engage in clinical research activities as agreed with their clinical director.
Consultants are also expected to participate actively in clinical governance activities such as audits, guideline development, and risk management, as well as contribute to the management and development of their clinical service. Flexibility and a collaborative approach are essential to support the smooth running of the directorate and compliance with Trust policies and procedures.
Experience
Proven experience in clinical oncology with a specialist interest in lung cancer. Experience in multidisciplinary team working and clinical research is highly desirable.

Qualifications
Full GMC registration with a license to practice and a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or equivalent in Clinical Oncology. Evidence of ongoing professional development and involvement in clinical research is expected.
