About the Role
Join Cygnet Hospital Ealing as a full-time Consultant Psychiatrist providing senior medical cover on Sunrise Ward, a 14-bedded highly specialised eating disorder service for women. You will act as the Responsible Clinician, overseeing and maintaining care for all ward inpatients, auditing medical services, and ensuring compliance with GMC standards and professional guidelines.
Sunrise Ward focuses on supporting women with eating disorders, including those with extremely low BMIs, to attain a healthy BMI and prepare for a return home. The service offers a phased treatment pathway that is collaborative and tailored to individual needs, driven by a multidisciplinary team.
In this role, your expertise will lead life-changing treatment supported by a Specialty Doctor and a first-class multidisciplinary team including qualified nurses, psychologists, and occupational therapists. There is also an opportunity to progress to Medical Director level through management schemes.

Main duties include leading high-quality care provision, acting as a positive role model, managing patient treatment plans with the multidisciplinary team, assessing referrals, conducting mental state examinations, investigations, diagnosis and treatment, ward rounds, patient reviews, clinical audits, risk assessment and management, supervising Mental Health Act tribunal reports, liaising with the Ministry of Justice, maintaining patient records, and contributing to academic meetings and professional development.
You will also contribute to the 1:2 telephone on-call rota and embed clinical governance within the service.
Experience
- Fully GMC registered and MBBS (or equivalent) qualified
- Registered on the specialist register (CCT/CESR), Section 12 and AC Status
- Experienced and knowledgeable in Eating Disorders (desirable)
- Knowledgeable of the Mental Health Act and Code of Practice, Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Code of Capacity
- Able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team

Additional Requirements
The successful candidate will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS and reference check with employment subject to successful clearance.
