Permanent, full time contract £42,909 - £54,333 pa Enfield offers a hybrid working arrangement. With an expectation that staff will be in the office a couple of times per month. Corporate Accountant will report to the Chief Accountant and will provide high quality and comprehensive finance support, drawing on technical expertise, knowledge and experience to add value and lead on the resolution of challenges. They are expected to actively champion continuous improvement and the implementation of automation and efficient ways of working. - Leading on specific financial accounting areas such as Collection Fund including reviewing and challenging financial controls and associated processes, and other aspects of the closure of accounts and providing financial guidance and support to services across the Council - Developing and maintaining an in-depth understanding of the Council’s services and their related objectives, and be informed of their risks, challenges and the impact of regulatory, financial and other changes - Taking ownership of specific finance processes to ensure all officers are appropriately trained able to carry out these processes in a consistent and efficient manner - Maintaining a comprehensive and up to date knowledge of all relevant legislation, procedures and current and emerging best practice for the area of responsibility and ensure that the organisation meets all of its statutory, regulatory and contractual obligations This role will offer an opportunity to gain valuable experience and a sound understanding of the Council’s Collection Fund and technical accounting processes and procedures, leading to effective financial controls and the production of the Statement of Accounts. This is an excellent role for an ambitious individual who likes challenges, is self-motivated and wants to use their financial skills to add value. We are looking for a qualified accountant, potentially early in their career. To be suitable for the role you need to be at least part qualified and be willing to work towards a full qualification, with experience of working with a finance related role ideally in a local government environment. Exposure to supporting change and excellent communication skills are also essential.
