About the Role

The Group Leadership Communications team develop and manage executive internal and external communications for the Group's Chief Executive and Group Chair. The team identify and shape opportunities to connect the CEO and Chair's leadership of our strategy and purpose with different audiences, via tailored messages and activity.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to learn about and interpret a broad spectrum of business activity and community engagement, helping to research and write high-quality briefings, speaker points and other messaging. Reporting to the Head of Group Leadership Communications, you will play an important role in the planning, research and written output of the team.

You will work closely with colleagues and subject-matter experts across the business and externally to source key information, verify facts, and craft concise and accurate briefings. You will create briefings and draft a range of messaging, quotes and speaking points for various channels and audiences, with oversight from senior leaders.

The role involves understanding complex and sometimes technical activity to represent it in simple, accurate and compelling language. You will support communication events for the CEO and Chair, including townhalls, regional visits, financial calendar events, offsites and roundtables. Additionally, you will help develop communication plans and engagement activity by maintaining planning documents and cultivating strong internal and external opportunities.

You will collaborate closely with Media, Internal, Policy and Reputation teams to enhance the profile and reputation of the CEO and Chair through considered and authentic communication. A learning approach, curiosity and initiative are essential to build strong relationships across the business and externally.

Our work style is hybrid, requiring at least two days per week, or 40% of your time, at one of our office sites.

Requirements

Experience
Proficient in writing, editing and fact-checking clear briefings that distil key messages. Experienced in crafting short messages in a leader's voice that engage, inform and inspire different audiences. Skilled at working at pace with excellent attention to detail, good judgement, and maintaining high standards of confidentiality, sensitivity and professionalism.

Proactive in researching and learning about new and evolving areas of business or community activity to inform briefings and messaging. Energetic in originating communication ideas and developing well-thought-through, collaborative activity.

Excellent all-round communicator with strong emotional intelligence in stakeholder management and partnering skills. Experienced in recommending and advocating team priorities while building trust and understanding across different stakeholders. Skilled in building networks internally and externally to provide a useful range of insight and perspective.

Good understanding of the audience, priorities and macro-environment for financial services, using this knowledge to prioritise and shape messages for customers, communities and colleagues, reinforcing the Group's purpose of helping Britain prosper.
