About the Role
The London Borough of Harrow is seeking a committed, hardworking, and motivated advisory teacher to join the established Children’s Sensory Team. This rewarding role supports children and young people with deafblindness or multi-sensory needs across educational and community settings. The successful candidate will work with children and young people aged from birth to 25 years, including those with additional needs, to promote progress, independence, and successful inclusion. Responsibilities include providing specialist teaching, advice, and learning opportunities, as well as supporting schools and settings to make the curriculum accessible. The role also involves delivering training and guidance to educational staff, intervenors, and other professionals to enhance support for children and young people with sensory impairments.

Experience
Qualified Teacher Status recognised in the UK with successful teaching experience. Experience working with children and young people with sensory impairments is desirable.

About you
You are committed to supporting children and young people with deafblindness or multi-sensory needs, motivated to promote inclusion and independence, and able to work collaboratively with educational settings and professionals. You are willing to undertake further specialist training if not already qualified.

Qualifications
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential. Qualified Teacher of Vision Impairment status (QTVI) is desirable, or a clear commitment to successfully complete the Mandatory Qualification for Teachers of Children and Young People with Multi-Sensory Impairment (QTMSI). Strong applicants without the specialist qualification will be considered if committed to completing the postgraduate Mandatory Qualification.
