Serving over 360,000 residents and approximately 14,000 businesses, this is an exciting opportunity to join a dedicated team delivering vital passenger transport services.
Transport and travel assistance within Croydon has evolved significantly in recent years, with a clear strategy focused on managing increasing demand and promoting client independence through alternative travel models.
We are recruiting a minibus driver for our in-house passenger transport service. The successful candidate will have previous experience in a similar role and be committed to delivering a high-quality, safe, and caring service to a vulnerable client group.
This role involves driving young people and adults safely according to prepared schedules or as directed, assisting passengers with care and consideration, and maintaining appropriate records. Flexibility to work within core service hours and outside normal office hours on a rota basis is required. An enhanced DBS disclosure and uniform wearing are mandatory for this role.
Experience
- Hold an appropriate "D" driving licence (with PCV) for the vehicle being driven
- Knowledge of Road Traffic Acts and Highway Code
- Completed MIDAS and First Aid Training
- Experience driving young people and adults safely in passenger transport vehicles
- Experience assisting passengers requiring care and consideration
- Ability to keep accurate records related to the service
- Ability to effectively diffuse difficult situations and write brief incident reports
- Ability to liaise tactfully and diplomatically between home and school regarding day-to-day concerns
About you
Committed to delivering a high-quality service to vulnerable clients, flexible to work within a rota including outside normal office hours, and able to wear a uniform while on duty.
Qualifications
Appropriate "D" driving licence with PCV, MIDAS and First Aid Training completed, and enhanced DBS disclosure required.
