About the Role
As a Customer and Trading Manager, you will work closely with a small team of managers to ensure the store runs smoothly every day. You will often be the only manager on duty, taking full accountability for the store's daily operations. Your role involves working alongside your team to complete all tasks efficiently and safely, ensuring customers receive excellent service. People management is a key part of the role, including managing performance and capability, conducting disciplinaries, and ensuring accurate scheduling and pay. In some cases, you may support other nearby convenience stores within close-knit networks. This role requires bold leadership, a passion for service, and a hands-on approach to drive operational excellence and deliver a next-level shopping experience for customers. You will lead operations confidently, even in the absence of more senior management, and be a driving force behind the store's success and team engagement.
Experience
- Previous line management experience in a fast-paced, operational environment
- Proven track record of delivering excellent customer service and coaching teams to do the same
- Experience leading a team in a customer-facing environment, motivating others and driving performance
- Operational leadership skills, including taking responsibility for store operations when senior managers are absent
- Experience managing employee relations issues such as disciplinaries, performance, and absence management
- Demonstrated success in meeting or exceeding KPIs such as sales, availability, customer satisfaction, or colleague engagement
