About the Role
This secondment opportunity offers the chance to develop leadership and project delivery experience within the NHS, supporting the stabilisation and optimisation of the Epic Electronic Health Record (EHR) system. The Deputy Applications Manager will lead and coordinate the ASAP and Orders/Bugsy teams within the Inpatient area of the ITCS directorate. The role involves managing multiple workstreams, prioritising workloads, and applying expert knowledge of Epic modules to support system design and workflow improvements.
The post holder will coach and mentor analysts, ensure timely system build and design integrity, manage stakeholder relationships, resolve issues, and support other clinical applications. Responsibilities include configuring Epic ASAP or Orders/Bugsy modules, supporting the Application Manager with Workflow Optimisation Team activities, project governance, reporting, and upgrades.
The role requires strong aptitude for digital systems, problem-solving skills, and an understanding of NHS acute and community workflows. The successful candidate will work collaboratively across ITCS teams to deliver high-quality clinical system solutions that support care delivery across multiple sites.
Experience
- Extensive experience developing long-term strategic plans with cross-organisation impact, ideally with Enterprise EHR software.
- Proven track record delivering workstreams within major programme frameworks.
- Experience managing and coaching teams, including direct and matrix management.
- Demonstrable ability to make complex judgements involving analysis and interpretation.
- Experience working effectively with diverse professional staff.
- Experience in project management and/or change management methodologies is essential.

Qualifications
- Essential: Epic Certification/Accreditation in ASAP or Orders/Bugsy modules.
- Educated to degree level in a relevant subject plus master’s degree level or equivalent senior NHS experience.
- Desirable: Project management qualifications such as PRINCE2© Practitioner, MSP© Practitioner, APM Certificate, PMI PMP or PgMP.
