About the Role
This is a rare leadership opportunity for an ambitious senior communications professional to lead a high-performing team focused on impact. The Serious Fraud Office (SFO) combats complex fraud, bribery and corruption to deliver justice and protect the UK’s reputation as a safe place to do business. The role involves shaping and leading the entire external communications operation, including strategic planning, digital and media relations, in a fast-moving, high-profile, and often legally sensitive environment.

Working closely with the Head of Communication and senior leaders, you will be a proactive, collaborative, and confident self-starter with a track record of innovation and seizing opportunities. You will also oversee the Public Information service, managing requests under the Freedom of Information Act and related legislation.

Key responsibilities include leading day-to-day delivery across strategic planning, digital and media communications, supporting team learning and performance, horizon scanning to identify reputational risks and opportunities, providing expert communication advice to senior leaders, and building positive stakeholder relationships.

Requirements

Experience
Proven senior communications experience with a track record of leading teams and delivering strategic communications in complex, high-profile environments. Experience in media relations, digital communications, and managing sensitive or legally complex issues is essential.

About you
You are a proactive and confident leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment. You demonstrate strong collaboration skills, innovation, and the ability to provide timely, expert advice to senior stakeholders. You are committed to high standards of communication and have the ability to manage reputational risks effectively.

Qualifications
Relevant professional qualifications in communications or a related field are desirable but not mandatory. A strong record of continuous professional development and leadership in communications is expected.
