Hours
Permanent, 35 hours per week, term time only. Likely hours during term time are 8am to 4pm (subject to change to meet operational needs).

Salary
Salary Scale 4 (Pt 7 £30,288 – Pt 10 £31,611 full time). Prorated salary range is approximately £24,612 – £25,687 depending on experience, weeks per year and continuous service.

About the Role
Are you an outstanding organiser who enjoys working with young people? Do you have a passion for cooking or are you a skilled general handy person who enjoys working with different materials and tools? An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Technology and Art Technician (including Hospitality) to join Barking Abbey School and contribute to the smooth and effective running of the Technology, Art and Hospitality departments. The primary purpose of this role is to provide day-to-day technical and organisational support, including preparing and setting up materials, apparatus and equipment for practical lessons, ordering and organising resources, maintaining stock and providing technical and in-class support to teachers and students.

Hospitality and Food Technology form an important part of the role. You will support the preparation and organisation of practical food lessons, ensuring cooking areas, equipment and resources are maintained safely and in accordance with food safety standards. You will assist with the safe use and maintenance of tools, machinery and equipment, help maintain safe and tidy practical working environments, and support the effective organisation of resources across the departments.

The role involves working across both Sandringham and Longbridge campuses. Specialist training and support will be provided for the right candidate. You will work alongside supportive and talented colleagues and inspirational students in a busy and rewarding school environment. Experience
Previous experience within Technology, Art, Hospitality or Food Technology is beneficial but not essential. Candidates with relevant practical or workshop-based experience and a willingness to learn are encouraged to apply.

Practical, organised and enthusiastic individual who enjoys working with young people and is interested in making a difference to their education. Willingness to develop experience in a food-based environment is important. You should be able to work effectively across multiple departments and campuses.
