About the Role
Croydon Council is one of the largest London boroughs, committed to providing safe transportation for its Special Educational Needs (SEN) clientele to and from school. Serving over 360,000 residents and approximately 14,000 businesses, this is an exciting opportunity to join a vital in-house passenger transport service team.

The role involves driving a minibus to transport young people and adults safely and comfortably according to prepared schedules or as directed. You will be part of a service that has evolved significantly in recent years, focusing on creating alternative travel models that offer clients more choice and independence.

This position requires a commitment to delivering a high-quality service for a vulnerable client group, working flexibly within core hours and outside normal office hours as part of a rota. The role includes wearing a uniform and requires an enhanced DBS disclosure.

Experience
- Previous experience driving passenger transport vehicles, preferably with young people or adults
- Knowledge of Road Traffic Acts and Highway Code
- Experience assisting passengers with care and consideration
- Ability to keep appropriate records and write brief notes or reports on incidents
- Ability to diffuse difficult situations effectively and liaise tactfully between home and school

Qualifications
- Hold an appropriate "D1" driving licence with PCV entitlement for the vehicle being driven
- Completed MIDAS and First Aid Training
- Enhanced DBS Disclosure required
- Requirement to wear a uniform whilst undertaking duties
