About the Role
The Educational Mental Health Practitioner will work autonomously and responsibly, with appropriate supervision, delivering evidence-based interventions for children and young people in educational settings experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties. The role involves supporting children and young people with more severe problems to access specialist services rapidly, and facilitating education staff in identifying and managing mental health and wellbeing issues. You will work collaboratively within education environments to improve access to specialist mental health services.

The role requires assessment and delivery of outcome-focused, evidence-based interventions in partnership with children, young people, their families, and educators. You will operate inclusively, respecting diversity, and adhere to safeguarding protocols and local procedures. Responsibilities include managing caseloads, attending multidisciplinary meetings, maintaining clear records, and contributing to the development of clinical and training materials.

Training and supervision are integral, with expectations to apply learning from training programs, present caseload information, respond to supervision feedback, and engage in continuous professional development. The post holder must maintain professional standards, ensure confidentiality, manage risks appropriately, and participate in performance reviews and relevant educational opportunities.
