
Location
Slough, Swindon, Oxford, Melksham, Andover, Yeovil, Poole New Forest, Portsmouth, Petersfield, Aldershot, West London or Reading. Your base 'home' location must be within commuting distance of the depot.
Hours
Permanent, Full Time, 37 hours per week with overtime and travel time available.
Salary
£34,749 - £40,939 per year plus overtime and travel time. Company vehicle provided. If based at Slough or West London, a London allowance of £3,000 applies.
About the Role
Join SSE's in-house Electrical Construction Team as a Low Voltage or High Voltage Electrical Construction Fitter in Southern England. You will work within a team responsible for constructing electrical apparatus in substations on the electricity distribution network from 11kV up to 132kV. Safety is our number one priority, and you will work in a supportive environment where consultation between all personnel is actively encouraged.
Your responsibilities will include delivering High Voltage construction projects in live electricity substation environments in line with operational safety rules and legislation, installing and commissioning new CT Metering apparatus, and operating telehandlers, MEWPs, and constructing mobile scaffolds with full training provided. You will have a personal development plan created with guidance from your line manager, regularly reviewed to shape your career path at SSE.

Experience
Proven knowledge and experience installing electrical systems, containment, cabling, plant, and small wiring. Experience working on DC battery systems, internal panel wiring modification, multicore cable terminating and glanding, wiring circuit breakers, CTs/VTs to marshalling kiosks and control panels, AC/DC wiring, and replacing 33kV outdoor circuit breakers and isolators.
Preferred but not essential: knowledge of the electricity distribution network and experience working in live electricity substation environments from 11kV to 132kV. Previous operational authorisations and training/qualifications in scaffold, telehandler, furzeweld, working at heights, confined space, asbestos, COSHH, LOLER, and SMSTS are beneficial.

Qualifications
