About the Role
The Electrical Maintenance Engineer will maintain all equipment, control systems, and other plant facilities to ensure production lines at the manufacturing site run reliably and efficiently. You will participate in company projects related to the technical role and help manage the Maintenance Workshop, ensuring routine and non-routine maintenance activities are executed safely, timely, and consistently.

Key responsibilities include:
- Completing and maintaining all relevant training within a cGMP environment
- Ensuring all documentation related to Nelson’s products is maintained within the Quality Management System (QMS) and complies with Data Integrity policies
- Adhering to cGMP environment requirements
- Executing the planned preventive maintenance programme
- Supporting continuous improvement processes to maximize production line efficiency
- Performing in-depth fault finding, diagnosis, and breakdown repairs
- Assisting with machine changeovers and training technicians
- Providing technical input into key operations projects such as facilities upgrades, capital investments, and new product introductions
- Carrying out reactive and planned maintenance duties
- Training production staff as required
- Supporting quality investigations including QIRs, deviations, and complaints, performing root cause analysis and ensuring effective CAPA implementation and closure
- Assisting with SOP/WI improvements and stock control
- Tracking all in-house engineering activities and updating relevant stakeholders
- Providing prompt updates on critical breakdowns to the Engineering Manager and other stakeholders

Requirements

Qualifications
- Time-Served Electrical Engineer
- Educated to a minimum of GCSE level or equivalent (Maths and English)
- HNC/HND Engineering qualification

Experience and Knowledge
- Knowledge of 18th Edition BS 7671:2018 regulations
- Understanding of 415V AC to 24V DC systems
- Experience with 3 phase and single phase motors, Servos, VSDs, VLTs, and Inverters
- Installation of containment systems including Ladder, Conduit, and Basket
- Cable glanding for SWA and SY cables
- Panel wiring and controls including safety circuits
- Ability to understand and interpret wiring diagrams
- Experience with PLC systems
- Previous experience working in a fast-paced GMP environment
- Familiarity with Lean manufacturing principles, 5S, and Kanban
- Mechanical experience is essential; electrical experience is desirable
- Knowledge of preventative maintenance programmes
- Experience with FMCG packaging machinery or pharmaceutical environments
- Experience in areas such as liquid filling, cartoning systems, labelling, tube filling, shrink wrap systems, and PLC interrogation (Omron, Allen Bradley, Siemens)
- Ability to monitor and report results effectively

- IT literate, proficient in Excel and ideally SAP

- Experience with Lean manufacturing
- Adaptable and keen to learn
