About the Role
Redbridge Mental Health Support Team (MHST) are seeking an educational psychologist passionate about early intervention for children and young people's mental health. MHSTs are a national initiative responding to the Government's plans to transform mental health provision for children and young people. The MHST has three core functions: delivering evidence-based interventions for children and young people with mild to moderate mental health difficulties; supporting the senior mental health lead in implementing a whole school/college approach; and providing timely advice to school and college staff while signposting to external specialist services.
Established in 2021, Redbridge MHST is growing alongside the national expansion of MHSTs. The service is innovative and responsive to local needs, working alongside a well-established team of Educational Psychologists and the Redbridge Educational Well-Being Team (REWT), which provides universal whole school support. The MHST offers a consultation model valuing a systemic and relational approach.
This developing team role offers scope to shape responsibilities based on professional interests and expertise. It is suitable for both newly qualified and experienced Educational Psychologists. Key duties include delivering evidence-based interventions directly to children, young people, and their families individually and in groups; supervising Education Mental Health Practitioners who deliver low-intensity CBT guided self-help interventions, including group and individual case management supervision; and providing whole school mental health support through training, projects, parent/carer support, and borough-wide campaigns.
Applicants must be HCPC registered and will be subject to DBS checks.
