About the Role
As the UK’s communications regulator, Ofcom delivers vital work to make communications work for everyone. The Employee Relations Specialist will be part of the People, Culture and Workplace Team, specifically within the Employee Relations team, supporting colleagues, line managers, and directors through all employee relations matters. This role focuses on fostering positive and productive working relationships, empowering leaders, and making Ofcom a great place to work.
Reporting to the Employee Relations Manager, you will provide empathetic, factual, high-quality, and risk-focused expert support across all employee relations issues. Key responsibilities include managing complex employee relations cases independently throughout their lifecycle, maintaining and developing people policies in line with legislation and best practice, and collaborating with multiple stakeholders including unions and colleague networks.
You will act as a trusted partner to leaders and People Services teams, lead employment law aspects of people projects such as restructuring and TUPE, and contribute to organisational change initiatives. A deep working knowledge of employment law and a customer service approach aligned with Ofcom’s values are essential to succeed in this role.
Experience
- Advising and coaching colleagues, line managers, and senior stakeholders on all aspects of Employment Law.
- Managing complex employee relations cases across all policy areas with precision, pace, and a solution-oriented approach.
- Working within structured governance processes and protocols.
- Influencing and collaborating with multiple stakeholders.
- Experience of people policy drafting and maintenance is desirable but not essential.
- Experience of working in a unionised organisation is desirable but not essential.
