About the Role
As the UK’s communications regulator, Ofcom delivers vital work that helps keep the UK connected, covering phones, broadband, TV, radio, postal services, wireless devices, and online safety. The Legal team, part of Ofcom’s Legal & Enforcement Group, is a diverse group of around 100 qualified lawyers based mainly in London, Manchester, and Edinburgh. The team provides proactive legal advice and support across the organisation, working closely with policy specialists, economists, and technologists to implement and enforce communications regulation.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to establish a professional support function within the legal team for the first time. You will provide professional support to lawyers across the full spectrum of Ofcom’s work and offices, helping to design and build this function from the ground up. Key responsibilities include leading the legal team’s training programme, coordinating training delivery, managing budgets, and liaising with Ofcom’s central learning and development and external providers. You will also establish systems to share legal knowledge, support professional development, identify efficiency improvements, manage relationships with legal research platform providers, and engage with legal teams of other UK regulators.

The role can be tailored to full time or part time working arrangements, reflecting Ofcom’s commitment to flexible working.

Experience
Qualified lawyer (solicitor, barrister, or equivalent) with prior experience in a professional support or knowledge lawyer role. Experience in a directly relevant area of law is advantageous but not essential.
