About the Role
Join Lambeth Council’s Skills and Employment team as an Employment Specialist within the Connect to Work programme, a five-year initiative funded by the Department for Work and Pensions. You will deliver personalised, evidence-based support to Lambeth residents with disabilities and long-term health conditions, helping them move quickly into competitive employment and thrive in the workplace.

Working within NHS settings and alongside mental health professionals, adult social care teams, and local employers, you will play a key role in transforming lives through work. You will also contribute to fidelity reviews, data reporting, and service improvement across the programme.

The role is part of the Supported Employment Quality Framework (SEQF) team, supporting individuals with learning disabilities, autism, neurodivergent traits, cognitive or communication barriers, and co-occurring needs not under clinical care. Full training in the IPS and SEQF model will be provided.

Lambeth is a vibrant and diverse borough with bold ambitions for the future through the Lambeth 2030 Plan ‘Our Future, Our Lambeth’. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a dynamic and inclusive community.

Requirements

Experience
Previous experience in employment support is desirable but not essential. We welcome candidates with backgrounds in recruitment, sales, account management, or other target-driven, people-focused roles. Experience managing a caseload, building trusting client relationships, and delivering high-quality, person-centred support is important.

A proven track record in delivering employment support, ideally using the IPS or SEQF model, is highly valued.

About you
You will have a strong understanding of the barriers faced by people with disabilities or long-term health conditions and how employment can support recovery. Confidence in engaging employers, advocating for inclusive recruitment, and providing in-work support is essential.

A proactive, strengths-based approach aligned with Lambeth’s values of Equity, Kindness, Accountability, and Ambition is required.

Qualifications
No specific qualifications are required for this role. A commitment to learning and a positive attitude are essential, with full training provided in the IPS and SEQF models.
