About the Role

We are looking for an Experience Design Manager to lead our in-store and colleague experiences, shaping how millions of people browse, buy, and interact with Argos every day. This role combines hands-on design, team leadership, and emerging technology to deliver measurable impact.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and growing a brilliant design team
- Managing, coaching, and inspiring experience designers
- Creating a culture of high standards, curiosity, and continuous improvement
- Supporting career growth while maintaining delivery momentum
- Reporting to the Head of Experience Design
- Owning the in-store experience and shaping future in-store and assisted digital journeys from kiosks to collections and payments
- Designing experiences that connect seamlessly with our app, website, and operational systems
- Balancing unique challenges with bold, innovative thinking
- Staying hands-on with design work when it matters
- Guiding teams through complex problems from idea to execution
- Moving fluidly between big-picture strategy and detailed design decisions
- Using AI-powered design tools and workflows to accelerate insight, ideation, and delivery
- Leading by example in exploring smarter, efficient ways to design
- Delivering real customer and business impact, including improving customer and colleague satisfaction, increasing conversion and in-store purchase rates, reducing friction across key journeys, and designing simple, inclusive, and genuinely helpful experiences
- Collaborating closely with Product, Engineering, Retail, and Commercial teams
- Bringing stakeholders on the journey through clear thinking and compelling storytelling
- Turning insight into action at pace

Experience
- At least 3 years managing a design team
- Strong hands-on UX, product, or service design capability
- Experience or passion for omni-channel end-to-end experiences
- Confidence working with data, research, and experimentation
- Experience using AI in design workflows
- Thrives in fast-moving, ambitious environments
