About the Role
Join the London Borough of Newham and help build a fairer Newham. We are a vibrant, dynamic, and culturally rich borough with a young population and limitless potential. Our Family Support and Safeguarding (FSS) Service combines Assessment and Intervention social work services to provide a coordinated, family-led, relational approach to supporting children and families. The FSS service consists of four services and sixteen teams, supporting families from first contact and assessment through to longer-term intervention until the best and safest outcomes for children are achieved. Two teams specialise in supporting children and families affected by disability or SEND, ensuring expert care. Social workers in this service are caseholding and participate in duty one week in sixteen, offering a balanced workload and professional development opportunities.

We value wellbeing and offer a flexible, hybrid working model with remote working options when not visiting families, modern office spaces, and a supportive clinical offer. Our Circles of Support practice model, recently nominated for the MJ Award for Innovation in Children’s Services, underpins our systemic, restorative approach. We are committed to creating an inclusive culture that reflects the diversity of the families we serve and to tackling disproportionality in social care practice. Join us to make a meaningful difference to the lives of Newham’s children and families.

Requirements

Experience
Qualified, Social Work England registered social workers with experience beyond the ASYE year in either assessment or long-term work with children and families.

About you
Conscientious, considerate, and empathetic social workers committed to relational practice and putting every child’s welfare, potential, and future at the heart of their work.
