About the Role
Zego is transforming the motor insurance industry by combining telematics, technology, and a relentless focus on the customer to build innovative insurance products. As an External Reporting Manager, you will be accountable for delivering statutory accounts, the SFCR narrative, external audit cycles, tax compliance, and FCA/GFSC regulatory returns across the Group and MGA. You will work closely with the Finance Director, actuarial function, Director of Legal and Regulatory Affairs, external auditors (Deloitte), and tax advisors, with visibility to the CFO, Audit Committee, and Board. This hands-on role offers ownership of a comprehensive external reporting remit in a regulated environment, blending the complexity of an insurance group with the pace of a tech scale-up.

Key Responsibilities
Prepare and deliver annual statutory financial statements under FRS 102 for the MGA and Group holding entities. Draft technical accounting papers on judgemental areas and maintain the group accounting manual to ensure consistent policy application across UK, Gibraltar, and Portuguese entities. Manage the external audit process, including audit timetables, deliverables, audit queries, and Audit Committee papers.
Own the production and consolidation of the annual SFCR narrative, coordinating cross-functional sign-off and external regulatory audit.
Coordinate corporation tax compliance with external advisors, manage VAT, PAYE/PSA, R&D tax credit cycles, and support HMRC enquiries. Prepare and submit FCA and GFSC regulatory returns, maintaining the regulatory reporting calendar and controls framework.
Operate and enhance the financial reporting control framework, drive automation and AI adoption to improve reporting quality and timelines, and mentor junior team members.

AI at Zego
AI is integral to how the Finance team operates. You will be expected to use AI tools to accelerate drafting technical papers, audit responses, regulatory submissions, and narratives. Automation of manual reporting tasks using AI, Excel, Python, and data tools is encouraged. You will apply judgement to AI outputs, ensuring technical accuracy and compliance, and share effective AI workflows across the team.

Experience
- ACA or ACCA qualified, ideally with Big 4 or Top 10 experience in financial services
- 2-4 years post-qualified experience in industry or audit
- Hands-on experience preparing statutory accounts under FRS 102
- Working knowledge of SFCR narrative structure and regulatory reporting
- Experience managing external audits from both auditor and auditee perspectives
- Knowledge of UK corporation tax, VAT, and R&D tax credits
- Strong technical writing skills for auditor-ready papers and disclosures
- Advanced Excel skills, comfortable with large data sets and reconciliations
- Active and curious user of AI tools in daily work

Qualifications
- ACA or ACCA qualification is essential
- Desirable: Exposure to multi-entity group structures including offshore (Gibraltar/Guernsey) or European subsidiaries

- Skills in Python, SQL, or Snowflake are advantageous
