About the Role
The Judicial Office (JO) supports the Lady Chief Justice and the wider judiciary in upholding the rule of law and delivering justice impartially, speedily, and efficiently. As an Arm’s Length Body sponsored by the Ministry of Justice, the JO operates in a complex environment balancing priorities set by the senior judiciary with funding from the Ministry of Justice. The Business Support Team, at the centre of the JO, manages a broad corporate portfolio including budget management, financial planning, and forecasting.

This role is primarily responsible for managing the Paybill budget, which accounts for nearly 50% of the Judicial Office’s total funding. The budget is headcount-driven, requiring close collaboration with the People Services Team and various Directorates to ensure accurate and up-to-date data for paybill forecasts. Key duties include preparing monthly accounts and variance analysis, monthly forecasting using Hyperion, submitting returns to the Ministry of Justice, managing journals, and providing operational support on counter fraud matters. The role also involves line management of one Executive Officer and supporting the Senior Finance Manager with assurance, controls, and ad hoc analysis.

Experience
- Breadth of finance experience within Government, including month-end reporting and finance systems
- Proven ability to work effectively with internal teams and stakeholders
- Strong organisational and planning skills with the ability to meet deadlines
- Good communication skills across multiple channels
