About the Role
The Judicial Communications team for judges and magistrates is seeking an experienced communications professional to join a reliable and innovative team based at the Royal Courts of Justice. The role involves leading high-profile internal and external communications focused on magistrates recruitment and retention, as well as implementing changes arising from Sir Brian Leveson’s review of criminal courts.

The Judicial Office supports the Lady Chief Justice and the wider judiciary in upholding the rule of law and delivering justice impartially and efficiently. Working closely with HM Courts & Tribunals Service, the Ministry of Justice, and other government bodies, the team plays a vital role in communicating key messages to judges, magistrates, and the public.

This position reports directly to the Head of Judicial Communications and includes line management responsibility for one Communications Officer. The role requires strategic planning, campaign delivery, content creation, and coordination across multiple stakeholders to support the Magistrates Uplift programme, which aims to increase magistrate numbers by 50% by 2028/29.

Key responsibilities include providing expert strategic communications advice, managing campaigns, producing engaging content for digital platforms, maintaining judiciary.uk and related websites, collaborating with press and government teams, and evaluating communications effectiveness. There is also potential to participate in an out-of-hours social media rota with additional allowance.

This is a fixed-term role funded for three years and linked to the Magistrates Uplift programme.
