About the Role
We're a venture-backed health-tech business on a mission to help people take control of their health, with strong growth behind us and big plans ahead. As we build out our finance function, we're looking for someone sharp, organised, and brilliant with systems to run the operational engine of our finance team. Reporting to the Finance Lead, you'll own the day-to-day running of finance and support decision-making across the business. You'll work closely with our B2B team, a fast-growing side of the business with big expectations ahead. We care far more about how you think than which exams you've passed. If you're a natural problem-solver who spots what isn't working and fixes it, who's ruthless about accuracy, and who loves making a process better, we'll teach you the accounting. This is a role you can grow into and, over time, well beyond. We're a small team that supports each other, but we also need someone who can work independently and take the initiative. You'll have real ownership of your work, with the freedom to improve how things are done, broad exposure across the business, and room to grow, all while doing genuinely meaningful work.

Responsibilities
Run the day-to-day finance function, keeping things accurate, timely, and well-controlled. Own the month-end close and monthly management accounts, including balance sheet reconciliations and revenue recognition. Deliver monthly reporting and commercial analysis, including variance analysis and ad hoc deep-dives, to present performance and insight clearly. Act as finance business partner to the B2B team and ops leads, supporting their finance needs, ensuring on-time payment and no revenue leakage, with revenue reporting at the contract level. Support the budgeting, forecasting, and FP&A cycle, partnering with the Finance Lead on planning and decisions. Manage the annual audit, acting as the main point of contact for auditors and ensuring a smooth close. Design, build, and improve the processes, systems, and controls the finance function needs as the business scales. Work across teams to provide insight, drive efficiency, and support decision-making.

About Second Nature
Obesity has become a global epidemic; in the UK, £9 billion a year is spent on diseases like type 2 diabetes (10% of the NHS budget). Most of this is preventable through sustained lifestyle and habit change. Second Nature helps people take control of their health by combining behavioural science, technology, and incredible people. Our digital habit change programme, delivered via mobile and web apps, helps people improve their lifestyle, lose weight, and reduce risk for conditions such as type 2 diabetes. We've positively changed the lives of over 250,000 people and are rated 'Excellent' by over 7,000 members on Trustpilot. We are growing quickly and are now a profitable business. We are one of the few consumer health brands commissioned by the NHS and leading health insurer Vitality Health. We are a leading B2C provider of GLP-1 medication-assisted weight loss programmes and one of five NICE-approved providers to deliver these services within the NHS in the future. Our team members stay with us for an average of 4.3 years.

Requirements

Experience

- Advanced Excel skills and a passion for using systems and tools to work faster and better.
- Experience with accounting or finance software (Xero preferred) and comfort learning new systems quickly.
- Some experience in a finance, operations, or analytical role, ideally in a fast-paced startup or scale-up.
- A good grasp of how a business makes and spends money, with an interest in the commercial side.

About You
- Takes ownership, spotting what isn't working and driving it to a better outcome without being asked.
- A sharp critical thinker who questions assumptions and digs into the 'why'.
