About the Role
British Transport Police (BTP) is the national police force for the rail network throughout Great Britain, dedicated to passenger safety and operational excellence. We are seeking a First Line Support Engineer to join the Control Rooms and Visual Services team. In this role, you will provide proactive technical support to maintain the operational integrity of BTP's CCTV infrastructure and associated systems. You will work closely with internal stakeholders and external providers to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues, ensuring the availability and reliability of critical visual services across the Force.
Your responsibilities will include providing first-line technical support for CCTV systems, PCs, laptops, and associated infrastructure; diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, network, and CCTV-related issues; supporting remote server infrastructure with daily system checks; and collaborating with Technical Support Engineers and the Head of Visual Services Network and Infrastructure to implement hardware, software, and infrastructure improvements.
A blended working approach of home and office-based work is available for this permanent role.
Experience
Previous experience in a technical support, IT support, or service desk environment is required.
Knowledge of IP and analogue CCTV systems, including fault diagnosis and troubleshooting.
Understanding of Windows Server environments, networking principles, and network protocols.
