Hours
Full time Monday to Friday, 9.00am - 5.00pm. Flexible working arrangements available including full-time Assessment Centre work or hybrid roles. After approximately six months of training, alternative working patterns may be available.

Salary
Starting salary £49,934 with the opportunity to achieve a £2,000 salary uplift over the first 12 months based on development milestones. Further salary uplifts available from year 2 as you acquire new specialist skills. Up to 10% quarterly discretionary bonus. 25 days holiday plus bank holidays with the option to buy more.

About the Role
As a Functional Assessor, you will use your clinical skills in a new way, maintaining your registration while enjoying a better work-life balance. You will carry out functional assessments with claimants face to face, via video and telephone to evaluate their ability to perform activities of daily living. You will ask focused questions, use active listening and critical reasoning to gather accurate information throughout the assessment. You will produce high quality, structured clinical reports for submission to the DWP. Working alongside experienced clinical colleagues, you will ensure assessments are clinically fair and of high quality.

While you will not make decisions or recommendations regarding claimant services and benefits, your clinical experience will help you ask the right questions to fully understand claimants’ needs and living environments, gathering accurate information for the DWP to make decisions.

Requirements

Experience
Minimum of 12 months post-registration clinical experience and active clinical practice within the last year. Pharmacists require a minimum of 18 months experience.

- Receptive to ongoing constructive feedback to ensure the best claimant experience.
- Confident using computers and learning new software to complete detailed, high-quality reports.

This role may not suit you if you are uncomfortable with technology, dislike writing detailed reports, prefer hands-on clinical care, are not seeking a new direction or retraining, dislike working with targets, or are unable to work on site for some or all of the week (minimum 3 days on site).

Qualifications
NMC-registered Adult Nurses (RGN, RMN, RNLD), HCPC-registered Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Paramedics, or GPhC-registered Pharmacists. Excellent communication and critical-thinking skills are essential, along with the ability to type and confidence using computers.
