About the Role
Work as part of a multidisciplinary team of genetic support staff, managing your own clinic and clinical/research workload. Provide ongoing advice and support to patients and families both in outpatient clinics and via telephone. Explain risks of carrier status, modes of inheritance, and counsel patients prior to pre-symptomatic testing. Record family histories and pedigrees accurately. Obtain blood samples using phlebotomy skills and ensure samples are sent to appropriate laboratories for testing. Act as a consistent point of contact for patients, families, and other health professionals. Collaborate closely with consultants, junior team members, and medical social workers to provide continuity of care and supervise junior staff. Maintain strong links with regional genetics units across the UK for patient management and genetic testing oversight. Develop and maintain a computerized genetic database of patients and families affected by inherited disorders.
Experience
Experience working within a genetic counselling or related clinical environment is essential. Proven ability to manage clinical and research workloads independently and as part of a team.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Comfortable supervising junior staff and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
Qualifications
Relevant qualifications in genetic counselling or equivalent clinical genetics training required. Phlebotomy skills essential. Experience with pedigree recording and genetic databases is highly desirable.
