
Location
Richmond, with a combination of onsite and home working. Applicants should be able to regularly travel to the Kew site for a minimum of 60% of their work time.
Hours

About the Role
Based within the Chief Executive’s Office, the Governance Manager – Annual Reporting and Transparency will support The National Archives’ corporate governance function and the Keeper’s statutory responsibilities by providing dedicated lead professional secretariat support as required. The role involves leading the project management of The National Archives’ Annual Report and Accounts, coordinating with senior internal and external stakeholders including the Department of Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) and Treasury to ensure statutory compliance and timely laying before Parliament. The Governance Manager will also coordinate activities to meet wider Transparency obligations.
The role includes providing secretariat support to The National Archives Board’s subcommittees, specifically the Finance and Performance Committee and the Audit and Risk Committee, as well as other meetings and committees as required. Working alongside the Governance Manager – Secretary to The National Archives Board and the Advisory Council, and the Head of Chief Executive’s Office, the post-holder will ensure high-quality, coordinated governance support and that corporate governance standards meet Government requirements.
Experience
Demonstrable experience in a corporate governance or secretariat role, with excellent organisational and planning skills to effectively manage committee meetings and associated business. Experience forming strong and effective working relationships with senior internal and external stakeholders, using initiative to solve problems and broker solutions. Proven project management skills including planning, prioritising, managing stakeholders, risks and dependencies, monitoring progress, and adapting delivery plans to ensure successful outcomes.
About you
Sound judgement based on expert understanding of committee roles and responsibilities or a strong understanding of similar advisory bodies in Government. Strong communication, influencing and negotiation skills gained through significant interaction with senior-level audiences. High level of integrity, diplomacy, political awareness, and familiarity with public sector reporting and Parliamentary processes. Excellent written and editorial skills, including the ability to prepare complex reports and present financial and non-financial information concisely with attention to detail.
