About the Role
As the Hard Services Facilities Manager, you will oversee the delivery of high-quality service management and maintenance across key parts of MI5's property portfolio. You will work closely with fellow technical managers to evaluate and implement technical solutions addressing a range of issues, from physical and structural matters to mechanical systems. Your role is vital in ensuring the resilience of secure facilities and enabling safe working environments.

Managing a team of 8 to 12 experienced engineers, you will provide technical leadership across multiple sites. Day-to-day responsibilities include working with teams and key stakeholders to deliver a reliable, joined-up facilities management service. You will regularly engage with the facilities management partner, maintaining positive working relationships and ensuring all voices are heard. Through robust technical discussions, you will influence decision-making, challenge assumptions, and drive the best outcomes.

As part of a wider team of facilities managers, you will contribute to delivering high levels of customer service across MI5. This role offers variety, collaboration opportunities, and the chance to make a real difference within a unique and vital environment.

Training and Development
Upon joining, you will undertake an extensive two-week induction programme introducing you to MI5’s estates, including opportunities to meet team members, visit different sites, and engage with customers and supplier partners.

Throughout your career, you will be encouraged to develop your skills and abilities with access to extensive learning opportunities and a personal development fund to support upskilling relevant to the role.

There may be opportunities to take on additional responsibilities, such as managing a wider facilities management portfolio as more sites are added, typically considered after 12 to 18 months in post.

Benefits
- 25 days’ annual leave, rising to 30 days after 5 years’ service, plus 10.5 days public and privilege holidays
- Employee performance recognition scheme
- Dedicated development budget
- Interest-free season ticket loan
- Excellent pension scheme
- Cycle-to-work scheme
- Facilities such as subsidised gym, restaurant, and on-site coffee bars (at some locations)
- Paid parental and adoption leave

As a senior leader, you will have experience leading and developing teams within this field. You are collaborative, adaptable, and intuitive, confident in liaising with people at all levels and developing effective working relationships with colleagues, customers, and suppliers.
